Our Story

Madonna Diagnostic & Research Centre was established on 25th November 1987, with the view to provide quality laboratory reports to patients and clinicians through its world class State of the Art equipment and well trained staff.
 

The Centre has achieved a milestone in Diagnostic Pathology in the form of NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation in the year 2010 in Clinical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology and follows the guidelines laid down by NABL based on ISO 15189:2022.
 

Madonna Diagnostic & Research Centre is the first medical laboratory in Upper Assam to get NABL accreditation and the 4th in the whole of North East India.

Our Aim is to deliver accurate precise human specimen in-vitro test results as per established and validated test methods in Laboratory practices.

About The Director

Dr. Mrinal Kumar Baruah, MD

Dr. Mrinal Kumar Baruah, graduated from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh taking the first position in order of Merit in 1978. After his MD in Pathology from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1982 he worked as a Senior Resident in the Department of Pathology PGI, Chandigarh. Later he joined Regional Medical Research Centre, ICMR, Dibrugarh and worked as a Research Officer for three years. Finally, he started private practice in Dibrugarh as the Director and Chief Pathologist of Madonna Diagnostic & Research Centre in 1987, and has been in practice for the last 36 years. He received special training in Telepathology from Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington DC in September 2000 and convened a number of Symposia in telepathology including Mumbai held on December 2001 and Kolkata in December 2002. He has a number of publications in Telepathology, Histopathology and Haematology in Peer reviewed Journals, the latest being “Haemoglobinopathies and Thalassemias in Upper Assam: A study of 9000 patients”.

Dr Rishiaj Baruah, MD

Dr. Rishiraj Baruah, completed his MD in Pathology from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. After his degree, he joined Madonna Diagnostic & Research Centre as a Consultant Pathologist, soon becoming the Supervisor of Histopathology and Cytology and the NABl Quality Manager for the laboratory. He completed observational training in Surgical Pathology in Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and started the Immunohistochemistry unit in the laboratory. His latest paper "Immunohistochemical Expression of Ki67 and p53 in Primary Breast Carcinoma and combined Ki67 - p53 Status Phenotypes in Hormone Receptor Positive Breast Carcinomas" was published in JCDR. He is presently working on research using Artificial Intelligence in diagnostic Pathology.
